Canton Library Seeks Teen Volunteers For Summer Book Buddies Program
It is recruiting teens entering grades 8 and up to volunteer and work with younger children on summer reading initiatives.
CANTON, CT — The Canton Public Library, 40 Dyer Ave., is seeking teen volunteers for its popular Book Buddies program this summer, offering students an opportunity to earn volunteer hours while gaining experience working with younger children.
Library officials said volunteers are still needed for the Tuesday program, which pairs teens with younger readers to help foster literacy skills and a love of reading.
The opportunity is open to students entering eighth grade and above.

In addition to community service hours, participants can build their resumes and develop leadership and mentoring skills through regular interaction with children.
The Book Buddies program is part of the library’s broader Program Buddies initiative, which also includes volunteer opportunities in arts and games programming.
