Darien P&Z To Review Proposal For Temporary Outdoor Padel Courts

DARIEN, CT — A proposal to add temporary outdoor padel courts at the Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club is expected to go before the Darien Planning & Zoning Commission meeting next week.
The Planning & Zoning Commission meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 12, at 7 p.m. in Room 206 at Darien Town Hall, 2 Renshaw Road.
The commission is scheduled to hold a public hearing on a special permit application submitted by Ox Ridge Riding & Racquet Club Inc. for its property at 512 Middlesex Road. The proposal calls for the addition of three temporary outdoor padel courts and an associated check-in booth on the northwestern portion of the club’s property.

Also listed under public hearings is an application for a new pervious turf sports court and batting cage at 9 Appletree Lane, along with related site development work.
The commission is additionally scheduled to review a coastal site plan application for Hay Island CT II LLC involving additions and alterations to a residence at 157 Long Neck Point Road, along with associated work in regulated coastal areas.

Another public hearing item involves a proposal to construct a dock system at 25 Shipway Road, including a fixed ramp, pier and platform within regulated coastal areas.
Earlier in the meeting, the commission is expected to meet in executive session with town counsel to discuss pending litigation.
During the general meeting portion, commissioners are scheduled to consider a mandatory referral involving an extension of the Darien Arts Center lease at 2 Renshaw Road from June 2026 through June 2036.
The agenda also includes deliberations and a possible decision on a proposal by the Connecticut Cross-Cultural Project Inc. to operate a Russian/Ukrainian/Slavic nonprofit cultural social club and school at 2 Squab Lane.
