1. 'Distinctive' English Cottage For Sale In Darien (patch.com) — Darien house hunters can now tour a distinctive 1929 English-style cottage on Birch Road, newly listed for just under $2.9 million. The four-bedroom home offers more than 4,000 square feet of updated living space on over an acre in one of town's most sought-after neighborhoods, blending classic character with modern comforts.
   

2. Teen, 15, Charged In Connection With Home Invasion: Darien Police (patch.com) — Darien residents are learning more about a March home invasion on Five Mile River Road, after police charged a 15-year-old in connection with the case. Investigators say three masked suspects entered using a hidden key, one appeared armed, and the homeowner fired his own gun to protect his family before the intruders fled; no injuries were reported.
   

3. Thriving Youth Darien Program Director Honored With Special Award (patch.com) — Darien residents can celebrate as Thriving Youth Darien program director Sarah McCarty is honored with a 2026 Above & Beyond Award for her leadership in youth mental health and substance-use prevention. Her work has strengthened youth engagement, data-driven prevention strategies, and partnerships among Darien schools, parents, law enforcement, and community groups, with The Community Fund of Darien serving as the coalition's fiscal agent.
   

4. Aquarion To Start Lengthy Water Main Work In Darien: Details (patch.com) — Aquarion is launching a long-term water main replacement project on Middlesex Road, Lantern Lane, Noroton Avenue and Revere Road in Darien starting Oct. 5, with work stretching into 2027. Residents along these streets should expect daytime construction hours, minor traffic delays, and occasional detours, and are encouraged to sign up for Everbridge alerts or contact Aquarion directly with project or service questions.
   

5. Milling Paving and Line Striping at the Darien Train Station South Parking Lot (ct.gov) — If you park at the Darien Train Station South lot, plan ahead: CTDOT will close the entire lot from 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, through 4 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, for milling, paving, and restriping. The train platform will stay open with access from Squab Lane, but drivers will be detoured while crews improve the lot's driving and walking surface.
