Low-Flying Helicopters May Be Seen In Darien, Here’s Why
Police are advising residents that low-flying helicopters may be seen over the next several days in Darien.
DARIEN, CT — Police are advising residents that low-flying helicopters may be seen over the next four days conducting power line and tower inspections in Darien.
Weather dependent, police said helicopters N642AB and/or N712CA will be on powerline patrol through March 24, between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily in the vicinity of the following locations:
- Stamford
- Glenbrook
- Darien
- South Norwalk
The patrol will require four days of flight, according to police.

“The helicopters will be flying at approximately 125-150 feet above ground level and will stop momentarily at each tower,” police wrote in a post on Facebook. “The helicopters will be required to make two passes, each on opposite sides of the track to eliminate blind spots during our inspection process. The helicopter may also be seen traveling from one location to another or surveying the route.”
