FARMINGTON, CT — The Farmington Police Department is participating in a statewide effort this April to curb distracted driving, aligning with National Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

Police said the initiative will focus on increased enforcement targeting drivers who use mobile devices behind the wheel.

Officials emphasized that distracted driving remains a leading cause of preventable crashes.

“If you’re texting or using your phone while driving, you risk a ticket and more importantly, a crash,” the department said in a public notice.

The campaign, conducted in coordination with law enforcement agencies across Connecticut, aims to raise awareness and deter unsafe behavior through both enforcement and public outreach.
