📰 News we're reading
• Late-spring frost and bears impact 2026 fruit crop in Connecticut (nbcconnecticut.com) — Clark Farms in Granby is reporting a smaller apple and peach harvest this year after a damaging May freeze and ongoing bear problems, though Honeycrisp and some Golden Delicious trees did well. The family is shifting to fall pruning to strengthen next year's crop and is hoping for dry fall weekends so local visitors can still enjoy plenty of apples this season.

• Obituary: Barbara Burbridge (thelocalnews.news) — Granby readers may remember Barbara Burbridge, who served as tax collector for both Granby and Bloomfield before retiring in 1991. She is remembered as a warm neighbor, devoted mother, and excellent hostess who loved her cocker spaniel, travel, and the Red Sox; her funeral services are private, with donations suggested to animal rescue charities.
