Greenwich Public Schools Receives National Recognition For Music Education Programs

The award recognizes school districts and schools across the country for their commitment to providing access to music education.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has received the 2026 Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award from the NAMM Foundation in recognition of the district’s support for music education programs.

Now in its 27th year, the Best Communities for Music Education program recognizes school districts and schools across the country for their commitment to providing access to music education as part of a well-rounded curriculum.

According to GPS, more than 1,000 school districts and schools nationwide, including public, private, charter and parochial institutions, received the recognition in 2026.

Award recipients were selected through an application and review process that evaluated factors including funding, instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support.

Applications were independently reviewed and verified by WolfBrown, a research and evaluation firm focused on education and the arts.

"Greenwich Public Schools demonstrates a strong commitment to music education by providing students with comprehensive, high-quality opportunities from elementary through high school. The district prioritizes sequential curriculum development, skilled instruction, and access to a wide range of ensembles and courses, ensuring that all students can engage meaningfully with music," GPS said in an announcement.

"Through performances, community partnerships, and a focus on creativity and collaboration, music education is valued as an essential part of a well-rounded education that supports both artistic growth and academic success."

The NAMM Foundation is the charitable arm of the National Association of Music Merchants, a trade association representing the music products industry.

The organization says it works to expand access to music-making opportunities and career pathways in the music industry.
