📰 News we're reading
1. Greenwich's Glenville has a neighborhood grocery store again (greenwichtime.com) — Glenville residents are finally getting a neighborhood supermarket again, as DeCicco & Sons opens its first Connecticut store on Glenville Street this Wednesday, restoring a long-missing grocery option on Greenwich's west side. Local officials and neighbors say the store will ease shopping hassles and help nearby businesses that lost foot traffic after Stop & Shop closed in 2023.

2. Up to the Minute Greenwich Property Transfers, August 18-20, 2026 (greenwichfreepress.com) — If you're watching the Greenwich real estate market, several notable properties changed hands August 18–20, including a major $10 million sale on Greenwich Avenue and multi-million-dollar deals on Bedford Road and Stanwich Road. These assessor-recorded transfers offer a snapshot of current prices across neighborhoods from Cos Cob to central Greenwich.

3. P&Z Watch: Proposed Loughlin Ave 'Twin Houses' Would Look Like One Big, Tall Building (greenwichfreepress.com) — Neighbors near Loughlin Park in Cos Cob are pushing back against a proposal for two large "twin" houses at 50 and 50A Loughlin Avenue, saying the design, blasting, and flooding risks don't fit the neighborhood. Greenwich's Planning & Zoning Commission has kept the application open, asking the developer for more details on grading, drainage, parking, and ways to reduce the project's visual and environmental impact.

4. CT man who worked at World Trade Center remembers Sept. 11, a day he stayed home — 25 years later (courant.com) — A lifelong Greenwich resident, Ed Dadakis, recalls how a last‑minute decision to work from his Greenwich home instead of the World Trade Center likely saved his life on Sept. 11, 2001. He reflects on colleagues lost, the town's heavy toll of 32 victims, and how a quarter century of unexpected life experiences followed that fateful day.

5. Engagement: Henson-Wright (cdispatch.com) — A Greenwich family is celebrating as Nicolas "Nico" Wright, a Greenwich High School and University of Mississippi graduate, becomes engaged to Anna Caroline Henson of West Point.
