Some Gas-Powered Leaf Blower Restrictions Have Been Lifted In Greenwich: Here's What To Know

GREENWICH, CT — With Labor Day in the rearview mirror, some gas-powered leaf blower restrictions in Greenwich have been lifted, although some still remain.

Restrictions on the use of gas-powered leaf blowers have expired for properties 2 acres or bigger. Restrictions for residential properties under 2 acres will be in place until Sept. 30.

Residents are being asked to follow the ordinance and not use gas-powered leaf blowers on these properties. Electric leaf blowers are allowed.

"I am glad to report we have had much fewer calls about issues with this ordinance this summer. However, I have personally had to speak with more than a few landscape companies this past week who were using gas powered blowers," First Selectman Fred Camillo wrote in his recent weekly newsletter to the community.

Residents who observe violations of the ordinance should call the Greenwich police non-emergency number at 203-622-8004 and provide details.

"Please continue to treat people with courtesy and understanding on this issue," Camillo added.

Landscapers will be able to use gas-powered leaf blowers during permitted hours beginning Oct. 1.
