General Dynamics Mission Systems Wins $15.6M Navy Contract for Shipset Systems Development (envzone.com) — A new $15.6 million Navy contract will send a quarter of the work to Groton, supporting software and hardware systems development and installation tied to shipset production. The project, led by General Dynamics Mission Systems, runs through August 2027 and reflects ongoing federal investment in submarine-related work across Groton and other major naval hubs.

UPDATE: Problems continue for Mystic Drawbridge (theday.com) — Mechanical problems with the Mystic River Bascule Bridge have alternately trapped boats and snarled downtown traffic, prompting bulletins from both Stonington and Groton police. While the bridge is open to vehicles, marina traffic is halted, leaving visiting vessels and Mystic Seaport's Sabino steamboat stuck until crews can restore reliable openings.
   

4. New England has two of the best small towns in America, according to Travel + Leisure (boston.com) — Mystic, the historic village partly located in Groton, has been named Travel + Leisure's best small food town in America, spotlighting its chefs, bartenders, farmers, and fishermen. The piece also highlights Mystic's growing tourism profile and notes Laconia, N.H., as a top lake town.
