• New Date Set For Free Hazardous Waste Disposal Day In Meriden (patch.com) — Meriden residents have a new chance to safely dispose of hazardous household materials after last weekend's storm forced a schedule change. The free drop-off will now run on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Meriden Transfer Station on Evansville Avenue, with pre-registration required for participation.
   

• 74-year-old CT man gets five years for sexually assaulting a girl. She was between ages of 7 and 9 years old. (courant.com) — A child sexual assault case was resolved in Meriden Superior Court, where a 74-year-old Stratford man received a 10-year sentence, with five years to serve and 10 years of probation. The judge also ordered him onto the state sex offender registry, and prosecutors publicly praised the young victim's courage in coming forward about abuse that began when she was between 7 and 9 years old.
   

• CT law limits federal ICE agents. Debate is over whether it can it be enforced or needs to change (courant.com) — State leaders are responding to a recent confrontation between masked ICE agents and protesters at the Meriden courthouse by defending a new Connecticut law that restricts masked federal enforcement in sensitive public spaces. As a federal lawsuit challenges the statute, officials debate whether the state can regulate how ICE operates in places like Meriden's courthouse, with some calling for potential legislative changes depending on the court's ruling.
