• CT vape shop employees accused of selling controlled substances that led to severe reaction for customer (courant.com) — Wallingford police say two PuffCity Smoke Shop employees face charges after a customer reportedly suffered a severe reaction to a product later found to contain a potent kratom-derived opioid. Investigators seized suspected illegal products and cash, and one suspect is due in Meriden Superior Court on Sept. 24, with police urging anyone aware of similar sales to contact them.

Officers impounded a truck, trailer, and race car, and Suffolk County police say their task force will keep targeting similar gatherings, though no additional details about the Meriden suspects have been released yet.
