WOODBURY, CT — Trees to Please, in partnership with Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust, will present “Rooted in Woodbury: Understanding, Protecting, and Caring for Our Trees” on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Sugar House at Flanders Nature Center.

The complimentary 90-minute community program will bring together local and state tree experts to explore Connecticut's trees, their benefits, threats, and practical steps residents can take to help them thrive.
Topics will include common native trees, tree health, invasive species, disease and climate-related stress, the importance of trees to people, wildlife and watersheds, and how to properly choose, plant and care for young trees.
The program will feature Hailey Horan, Educator with Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust; Bud Neal, Woodbury Tree Warden and owner of Neal Tree Service; Les Welker, Urban Forestry Partnership Coordinator with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection; and Jack Hatajik of The Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station.
The will be a tree planting demo following the program.
