• State program allows Monroe schools to offer free breakfasts (themonroesun.com) — Starting Oct. 1, all students at Monroe's elementary schools, Jockey Hollow Middle School, and STEM Academy can get a free grab-and-go breakfast thanks to Connecticut's RISE program. Superintendent Joseph Kobza says the district will test the new routine month-to-month, while also expanding free lunches for qualifying K-8 students and watching whether the state extends the initiative beyond this school year.
