1. 2026-2027- Main Grants (fundsforngos.org) — Local nonprofits serving New Canaan can now apply for New Canaan Community Foundation's Main Grants, with awards generally between $7,500 and $25,000 and an Oct. 16 deadline. Funding focuses on arts, health, human services, seniors, special needs, and youth, prioritizing programs that directly benefit New Canaan and neighboring communities.

2. Elm Street Woman Threatens To Kill Neighbor's Poodle (newcanaanite.com) — New Canaan police and EMS responded to a reported dog bite at a Prides Crossing condo, but an EMT said the aide's leg injury didn't resemble a typical bite. After witnesses disputed the complaint, Animal Control still ordered the friendly poodle Charlie quarantined on-property through Sept. 30 while warning the upset neighbor who threatened the dog.

3. New Canaan Field Hockey Dismantles St. Joseph 4-0 (newcanaansentinel.com) — New Canaan High School's field hockey team dominated St. Joseph 4-0, controlling possession and capitalizing on penalty corners for a convincing road win. Strong defense and standout play from Amaya Ahuja helped keep the Cadets scoreless. The Rams now turn their focus to an upcoming matchup against Staples in Westport.

Top high schools in Connecticut ranked for 2027: LIST (wtnh.com) — New Canaan High School has been ranked the number one public high school in Connecticut for 2027, while St. Luke's School also makes the Top 20 private list. The statewide Niche rankings weigh academics, culture, resources, and more, giving New Canaan families fresh bragging rights and another data point when comparing schools across Connecticut.
