• New Canaan Police Officer Promoted To Sergeant: PD (patch.com) — New Canaan residents are welcoming a historic promotion in their police department as Officer Kelly Coughlin becomes only the second woman ever elevated to sergeant. Serving since 2015, she has held multiple specialized roles, worked closely with local schools and community programs, and earned several departmental awards. Her new leadership role is highlighted as a win for both the department and the wider New Canaan community.
   

• NCPS Adds Kindergarten Section at West, First Grade at South As School Year Gets Underway (newcanaanite.com) — New Canaan Public Schools have fully staffed all certified teaching positions for the new year, even after a last-minute world language resignation, and are adding a kindergarten section at West and a first grade section at South. District leaders say enrollment and staffing are tracking with the budget as they shift pre-K to West School and welcome several new special education and operations administrators.
   

• New Canaan Woman, 40, Charged with Assault of Public Safety Personnel (newcanaanite.com) — New Canaan police arrested a 40-year-old South Avenue resident by warrant after an earlier domestic incident where she allegedly spit on an officer and made threatening comments while in custody. Court records show she faces a felony charge of assault of public safety personnel, along with several other recent New Canaan arrests, and is due back in court Sept. 15.
