The department also highlights helmet requirements, proper e-bike operation, and pedestrian safety, asking parents to review safe routes and equipment with their children before classes start.
   

• Canoe Hill Road Homeowner Proposes Two-Lot Subdivision (newcanaanite.com) — A homeowner at 235 Canoe Hill Road in New Canaan is seeking approval to split a 4.74-acre parcel into two lots while keeping the 1909 home on one. Town Planner Sarah Carey has flagged questions about access rights involving a neighboring parcel, and the Planning & Zoning Commission is set to take up the application at its Tuesday evening meeting. The owner is represented by New Canaan-based firm Lampert, Toohey & Rucci.
   

• CT's second-wealthiest town targeted in court. It's over planned affordable housing. (courant.com) — New Canaan is being sued under Connecticut's 8-30g law after its Planning and Zoning Commission rejected a 14-unit affordable housing proposal on Parade Hill Road aimed largely at homeless families. The case challenges the town's claimed moratorium and highlights that less than 4% of local housing qualifies as affordable. Residents have raised concerns about traffic, infrastructure, and building design as the court prepares to review the dispute.
