5 Things To Know In New London: Early Voting Details, The Chapin Family At The Garde, 'Rocky Horror' And More

New London posts its early voting schedule, the Chapin Family sings Harry Chapin at the Garde and 'Rocky Horror' comes Sunday.

NEW LONDON, CT — New London has posted its early voting schedule for the Nov. 3 state election, the Chapin Family brings Harry Chapin's songs to the Garde Arts Center and the Fair Rent Commission meets Wednesday.

Here are five things to know about life around New London this week:

1. Early Voting Starts Oct. 19 At City Hall
When: Early voting Monday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Nov. 1; Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3
Where: New London City Hall, 181 State St.
What to know: The city has posted the official warning for the Nov. 3 state election, according to a city notice. Early voting runs Oct. 19 through Nov. 1 at City Hall, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with hours extended to 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Thursday, Oct. 29. On Election Day, polls are open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at New London STEM High School, 490 Jefferson Ave.; the New London Community Center, 1 Recreation Way; and Nathan Hale School, 37 Beech Drive. The ballot includes governor and lieutenant governor, U.S. senator, the U.S. House, the state legislature, the state's other constitutional officers and judge of probate.

2. The Chapin Family Sings Harry Chapin
When: Saturday, Oct. 17, 8 p.m.
Where: Garde Arts Center, 325 State St.
What to know: Two generations of the Chapin family, including Tom, Steve and Jen Chapin and the Chapin Sisters, perform Harry Chapin's songs, including "Cat's in the Cradle" and "Taxi," backed by the Harry Chapin Band, according to the Garde. Tickets are $39 to $79 plus fees. The Garde is also collecting food donations for the Gemma E. Moran United Way/Labor Food Center.

3. Fair Rent Commission Meets
When: Wednesday, Oct. 14, 6 p.m.
Where: City Hall, Council Chambers, 181 State St.
What to know: The Fair Rent Commission, which hears tenant complaints about excessive rent increases, is scheduled to meet, according to the city's meeting calendar. As of Thursday, Oct. 8, no agenda had been posted.

4. 'Rocky Horror' Shadow-Cast Screening
When: Sunday, Oct. 18, 7 p.m.
Where: Garde Arts Center, 325 State St.
What to know: The Garde screens "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" with the RKO Army shadow cast performing live, according to the theater. Costumes are encouraged, and each ticket includes a prop bag. The film is rated R; tickets are $26 plus fees.
