• New Milford's vision for a new public works campus at brass mill brownfield begins with a smoke tower (nhregister.com) — New Milford is moving ahead with plans to turn the old Century Brass Mill brownfield into a 66-acre public works campus, starting with a smoke tower for firefighter training off Aspetuck Ridge Road. Long term, the town aims to relocate public works there and convert the current Young's Field Road site by the Housatonic River into a pocket park with new recreation space for residents.
   

• Rock climber killed in Connecticut Appalachian Trail fall identified as Massachusetts man (newstimes.com) — A Massachusetts man died after falling while rock climbing near St. John's Ledges on the Appalachian Trail, with emergency crews transporting him to New Milford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. State environmental officials have identified the victim and say the medical examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death as the investigation continues.
