Students Enjoy 'Very Warm Atmosphere' As They Return To School In Norwalk (patch.com) — Norwalk students from elementary through high school kicked off the 2026-27 school year Wednesday with what district officials described as a very warm, welcoming atmosphere. Norwalk High and P-TECH students also marked their last first day in the current building, as the district prepares to move into a new facility in 2027 and plans to share content celebrating the old school throughout the year.

2. Apartment Kitchen Fire Displaces 3 Residents In Norwalk: FD (patch.com) — Norwalk firefighters quickly knocked down a kitchen fire in a third-floor Ely Avenue apartment early Wednesday morning, containing flames to the stove area but leaving heavy smoke damage. Three residents were displaced, but no injuries were reported as the Fire Marshal's office investigates the cause.

3. E-Scooter Rider Seriously Injured In Norwalk Crash: Police (patch.com) — Norwalk police are investigating a serious crash in which an e-scooter rider, who was not wearing a helmet, was badly injured Tuesday night at Strawberry Hill Avenue and County Street and taken to Norwalk Hospital. Crash Reconstruction and Identification units processed the scene, and police are urging residents to wear helmets and share any information about the incident.

4. Connecticut man creates game where each lanternfly kill helps you climb the leaderboard (rep-am.com) — Spotted lanternflies have been documented causing trouble in Norwalk, and a Connecticut software manager has turned squashing them into a competitive online game where players upload photos of their kills and climb leaderboards. Experts say every bug stomped can prevent future egg masses, and the game aims to make this invasive-species chore more engaging for residents statewide.
