The three-story school on Teachers Drive is slated to open for the 2028-29 year, alongside new John B. Stanton, Greeneville, Moriarty, and Uncas schools and a redistricting plan.

Free breakfast and lunch available in Norwich schools (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich public school families with children in 11 local schools will get free breakfast and lunch all year through the federal Community Eligibility Program, with no household application required. District officials note anti-discrimination protections, language access, and disability accommodations, and provide contacts for families seeking more information about how the program works for Norwich students.
   

3. Federal lawsuit claims Waterford police officers left intellectually disabled man paralyzed (theday.com) — A Norwich man's family has filed a $50 million federal lawsuit alleging Waterford police actions during a 2024 dirt bike encounter left the intellectually disabled 19-year-old paralyzed and needing round-the-clock care. The suit claims officers escalated the situation, used excessive force, and mishandled him after the crash, while town officials and police have not yet publicly responded.
   

4. Roof and wall of former Ortronics building in Norwich collapses (theday.com) — A roof and partial wall recently collapsed at the vacant former Ortronics building on Eighth Street in Norwich's Greeneville neighborhood, but no one was hurt and the structure has been braced. City officials say repairs are underway and access to a nearby Norwich Public Utilities substation remains safe, though residents are urged to stay out of the building.
