Arrested the same day with a loaded handgun and stolen cash, he accepted a plea deal, while the judge weighed his difficult upbringing against the victim's strong objections to what she called a light sentence.

• Renewed agreement boosts food access in Norwich, New London Country (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich residents facing food insecurity could see stronger support thanks to a renewed seven-year agreement between Connecticut Foodshare and United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. The deal boosts food supplies and rescue efforts for pantries and meal programs across New London County, where more than 38,000 people are food insecure, by expanding access to donated and state-funded food.
