• Norwich man gets 4 ½ years for armed robbery of bank (theday.com) — A 22-year-old Norwich man has been sentenced to 4½ years in prison for robbing the Centerville Bank on High Street at gunpoint in January 2025. Arrested the same day with a loaded handgun and stolen cash, he accepted a plea deal, while the judge weighed his difficult upbringing against the victim's strong objections to what she called a light sentence. 
• Renewed agreement boosts food access in Norwich, New London Country (norwichbulletin.com) — Norwich residents facing food insecurity could see stronger support thanks to a renewed seven-year agreement between Connecticut Foodshare and United Way of Southeastern Connecticut. The deal boosts food supplies and rescue efforts for pantries and meal programs across New London County, where more than 38,000 people are food insecure, by expanding access to donated and state-funded food.
• NFA names teachers and paraprofessional of the year (theday.com) — Norwich Free Academy kicked off the school year by honoring Spanish teacher Rachel Guisti as its 2026 Teacher of the Year and paraprofessional Amy Rogulski for her one-to-one student support. Both shared how relationships with students, encouragement, and daily classroom challenges shape their work and why NFA's community means so much to them.
