The longtime Orange officer is being recognized for his investigative work, leadership in the Honor Guard, and community service, including volunteering with Connecticut Special Olympics.

• West Nile virus detected in mosquitoes in Shelton, days after first human case (ctpost.com) — Orange is among several Connecticut communities where mosquitoes have recently tested positive for West Nile virus, according to state monitoring data. Health officials urge residents to limit time outdoors at dawn and dusk, use insect repellent, and remove standing water around homes to reduce mosquito breeding and lower the risk of infection.
