• Orange Detective Denny Peterson Named 2026 Police Officer Of The Year (patch.com) — Orange residents will see Detective Denny Peterson honored as the town's 2026 Police Officer of the Year at the Amity Chamber Community Awards on Sept. 17 at the Courtyard by Marriott on Marsh Hill Road. The longtime Orange officer is being recognized for his investigative work, leadership in the Honor Guard, and community service, including volunteering with Connecticut Special Olympics.
   

• 'Amazing.' Orange nail salon fully reopens 8 months after devastating fire (news12.com) — A beloved Orange business, Black Swan Nails & Spa, has fully reopened in its original Boston Post Road location less than a year after a fire destroyed the shop. After months operating from a temporary space with town support, owners and loyal customers are celebrating the rebuilt salon and the quick recovery from the electrical blaze.
   

• West Nile virus detected in mosquitoes in Shelton, days after first human case (ctpost.com) — Orange is among several Connecticut communities where mosquitoes have recently tested positive for West Nile virus, according to state monitoring data. Health officials urge residents to limit time outdoors at dawn and dusk, use insect repellent, and remove standing water around homes to reduce mosquito breeding and lower the risk of infection.
