Basic Digital Camera Operation Need help understanding how to use your DSLR camera? Is the instruction manual that came with it almost impossible to understand? bring your DSLR or mirrorless camera and manual to this class. This course will guide you to knowing how to take pictures you can be proud of and having a good knowledge of photography in general. All relevant buttons and switches will be explained so that your picture will come out well exposed and sharply focused. Whether you are interested in photographing your friends and family, nature, landscapes or sports, this course will certainly enhance your talents. You will learn how to freeze the action in sports; create beautiful portraits with that blurry background, and use your flash as professional fashion and wedding photographers do.. Feng Shui Walk in Ridgefield Come follow the path of energy through Ridgefield. After learning the principles of feng shui - how chi flows, the power of opposites, yin/yang, and the alchemy of the five elements - Christine Persche, feng shui and design specialist, will lead a walk through the heart of town and see its applications everywhere. A good way to practice looking through a feng shui lens to help illuminate and bring balance to your own living and working spaces. Instructor Christine Persche is a design librarian, certified Feng Shui consultant, graduate of Pratt Institute, and LEED Accredited Professional. Gentle Flow Yoga ~ Evening ~ HYBRID - In Person Plus Zoom available. For beginner/intermediate students looking to deepen their yoga practice. Explore the fundamentals of a flowing yoga practice (vinyasa) as well as traditional poses. Benefits include increased strength, mobility, flexibility along with improved circulation and stress reduction. Increase your awareness of body and breath and end with a deep relaxation (Savasana). Modifications are provided to allow all students to find their own combination of challenge and balance. Please bring a mat, blocks, blanket or towel and a water bottle. Gentle Yoga Stretch Fusion with Mary Sireci ~ Evening in Person. Start to wind down your week in this class designed to generate ease within the body, by poses that are strengthening and lengthening and suitable to meet needs of each student. Yoga magic in this class brings peace of mind, tension release, and positive energy. Stretching is a good way to keep your body mobile, your joints lubricated, and your body feeling free. A feel good class for all body types. Ending with some yoga meditation, students will learn to calm the mind while feeling blissful in the soul. All three services will be open to members and non-members, their families, and guests, both in-person and by livestream. While our services are free of charge, we kindly ask non-members to consider a donation.

The Jay Heritage Center in Rye, New York will celebrate America at 250 with a toast to Jay Medal honorees Pulitzer Prize-winning author Annette Gordon-Reed, the Carl M. Loeb University Professor at Harvard University and award-winning Lincoln historian Harold Holzer.
The Jay Medal for Service was created in 2012 to recognize individuals who demonstrate a selfless spirit of commitment to and engagement with their community mirroring the multifaceted contributions of John Jay and his descendants. These honorees have demonstrated through their life's work that our shared narratives as a country, complicated as they are, can be better illuminated through the highest caliber of ongoing scholarship and advocacy. Honorees are selected for their excellence in the fields of American history, environmental stewardship, social justice or civic engagement.
Joining the celebration will be Chief Judge of the State of New York and the New York Court of Appeals, Honorable Rowan D. Wilson and historian and philanthropist Elihu Rose who will present the awards at JHC's annual Soirée. Special guests will include David Blight, Frank Cogliano, Joanne Freeman, and Beverly Gage.
