October is Pregnancy & Loss Awareness Month and on Sunday, October 18th, The Iris Fund 5K at the Ridgefield Road Fest proudly supports The Iris Fund, founded in loving memory of Iris Crystal Aleman. Dedicated to ending the heartbreak of prematurity, the Iris Fund fuels research into the triggers of preterm labor and supports families facing high-risk pregnancies and loss.

The community has come together for many years at this fabulous family event, and Iris Fund Founder and Ridgefield native Brittney Crystal is looking forward to another great race. “The way our supporters show up for this event is just incredible. Individual runners, families, and of course our partners make this day such a success every year. We are excited to partner with Make it Swag again this year and we’re also grateful to Chez Lenard, which has graciously offered to support and provide food on race day again.”

Runners who register for The Iris Fund 5k will support the organization’s work to drive groundbreaking research and improve pregnancy outcomes for families everywhere.

The Ridgefield Road Fest races on Sunday, October 18th showcase classic fall New England scenery, taking you through some of the prettiest roads in Fairfield County. Every race starts on East Ridge Road, just above the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield, with a few gradual climbs to keep you honest. From there, the course settles into a nice rolling stretch through southern Ridgefield, looping twice past some of the flattest miles in town.
