Tiger Lacrosse Report - April 20, 2026
One third of the way through the season, the Tigers sit at 4-2 (1-0 FCIAC) as they head into the heart of the FCIAC schedule
As the Ridgefield Tigers cross the one-third mark of the 2026 season, their tremendous raw talent and high ceiling are coming into clear focus -- as are the challenges facing a young squad tasked with replacing nearly two-thirds of the roster from last year’s FCIAC championship team. The past two weeks of action have seen gritty, character-building wins for the boys, as well as setbacks that illustrate the challenges that must be overcome in order for the Tigers to once again challenge for a conference title.
Tuesday, April 7: Ridgefield 15, Carey (NY) 7
The Tigers ended their first road trip of the season with a dominant second-half performance on Long Island.
Trailing 5-4 at halftime and struggling to find their offensive rhythm, Ridgefield emerged from the break like a totally different team, overwhelming the Seahawks with a dominating 8-0 third quarter run that effectively ended the contest.
Junior attackman Chris Colsey spearheaded the onslaught, putting on a clinic with four goals in the third period alone to finish with a game-high seven goals. Junior midfielder Andrew Lycoyannis also helped power the momentum shift, going coast-to-coast on the clear to put one past Carey goaltender Steven Martinez.
The defense, anchored by junior Connor Chojnacki, sophomore Anders Gerosa, and freshman Alex Coleman, together with junior Andrew Fitzpatrick at LSM and Lycoyannis at SSDM, was nearly impenetrable in the second half, holding the hosts scoreless in the third quarter and dashing any hopes for a Carey comeback.
Tuesday, April 14: Ridgefield 10, Fairfield Ludlowe 5
Back on the road after a tough home loss against Shawnee, the Tigers established control early, jumping out to a 4-1 lead in the first quarter behind goals from senior midfielder Liam Kristan, Lycoyannis, sophomore attackman Ollie Cronin, and junior midfielder Tommy Lunn.
The second quarter saw Ridgefield extend the lead to 8-3, with junior midfielder Preston Penn and senior midfielder Ryan Troy entering the goalscoring column. Junior attackman Conor Vickers helped put the game away in the third, ensuring the Falcons never mounted a serious threat in a scoreless fourth quarter.
While the offense was balanced, the story of the day was freshman goaltender Brady Reinhardt, who was a wall in the cage with 12 saves and a stellar 71% save percentage.
Thursday, April 16: Ridgefield 9, Greenwich 7
In perhaps their most impressive win of the young season, the Tigers opened FCIAC play at Greenwich and pulled out the "W" at less than full strength.
The game was a seesaw affair early, tied 3-3 after the first quarter, but Ridgefield's tenacity and grit proved to be the difference. While Lunn (3G, 1A) and Colsey (2G, 3A) were clinical in the half-field sets, the defensive effort was the highlight.
Vickers was the "man of the match," not only netting 4 goals on the evening but proving relentless on the ride, creating multiple extra possessions for the Tigers. And with Fitzpatrick sidelined by injury, Ridgefield's "next man up" mentality saved the day and the defensive midfield didn't skip a beat. With Lycoyannis sliding over to LSM and juniors Tanner Breen and Nolan Queenan and sophomore Ryan Carney holding down the fort at SSDM, the Tigers held the Cardinals to just two goals over the middle two quarters, while Reinhardt made 8 saves and leaned on stellar play from his close defense to preserve Ridgefield's lead down the stretch.
Tiger Hollow Challenges
While the Tigers have been perfect on the road, Tiger Hollow has provided some wake-up call moments. Ridgefield dropped a tough home contest to Top-5 New Jersey powerhouse Shawnee on April 11. And this past Saturday, April 18, the Tigers fell 14-8 to a supremely talented and disciplined Rye (NY) squad.
Against Rye, the Tigers were on top early as two first-quarter goals from Vickers and tallies from Colsey and Penn put the home side up 4-3. However, a 5-1 second-quarter surge put the Garnets up 8-5 at halftime. While Ridgefield got as close as 10-8 in the fourth quarter, the deficit proved too much to overcome, and Rye padded their lead late as the Tigers began to press out on defense and resorted to the 10-man ride to attempt to close the gap in the final minutes.
Colsey netted a hat trick in the loss, while Troy added a goal of his own.

The Week Ahead
Current Record: 4-2 (1-0 FCIAC)
Thursday, April 23: vs. Staples (6:00 pm)
The boys return to Tiger Hollow for one of the most anticipated games on the calendar. Staples is the defending Connecticut Class LL champion and accounted for two of Ridgefield's four losses last year (although the Tigers did best the Wreckers in last year's FCIAC semifinal). While they graduated a bevy of talented 2025s, Staples is riding high off a come-from-behind 11-8 win over previous state #1 New Canaan last Thursday.
Saturday, April 25: at Wantagh (NY) (12:30 pm)
The boys make their second Nassau County road trip this month for a return matchup against Long Island power Wantagh, who will be looking to avenge last year's 16-9 Ridgefield win at Tiger Hollow. The Warriors feature a high-octane offense led by Villanova commits Devin Paccione and Joe Nicholson as well as sophomore attackman Luke Martini, the 2025 Jim Thorpe award winner as Nassau County's top football player and possibly the top 2028 lacrosse recruit in the country. The Ridgefield defense will need to bring its "A" game for the Tigers to have a chance at the road victory.
