Griffin Health to Discuss Disaster Preparedness with Valley Seniors

Griffin Health and the Agency on Aging of South-Central Connecticut will host health education programs for Valley seniors about disaster preparedness this October.

Griffin Health Director of Safety, Prehospital Care, & Emergency Preparedness Joseph Burnett will lead “Disaster Preparedness for Older Adults,” a free presentation on the importance of being prepared for emergencies that includes a self-assessment process to help identify an individual’s specific needs in order to create a personalized emergency plan. Griffin Health caregivers will also offer free blood pressure screenings and consultation.

The presentations are scheduled for Mon., Oct. 5 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Seymour Senior Center, Thurs., Oct. 8 from 1:30-2:30 at the Oxford Senior Center, Thurs., Oct. 14 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Ansonia Senior Center, Thurs., Oct. 22 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Derby Neck Library, and Wed., Oct. 28 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Shelton Senior Center.

These offerings are part of the AgeWell program, which is co-sponsored by Griffin Health and the Agency on Aging of South-Central Connecticut to increase access to care and prevent disease in the Valley senior community through a series of health screenings and healthy living education sessions each month. Periodically, this program provides nutritiously balanced and delicious foods for attendees.
