Person Killed In 3-Alarm Bridgeport Fire: Officials

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A two-alarm fire Wednesday afternoon in Bridgeport claimed the life of one person, according to fire officials.

The fire in the 140 block of Denver Avenue was reported at about 4:15 p.m., and the person was pulled out of the structure by firefighters and taken to Bridgeport Hospital. The person was in critical condition and later died from their injuries, according to Shawnna White, Bridgeport's public information officer.

"Two more individuals were transported to the hospital for evaluation but did not suffer from any injuries," White said.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, they saw heavy fire from the building's third floor, which prompted the call for the second and third alarms.

The Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s office and the State Fire Marshal’s office are investigating the cause of the fire.
