• State officials issue warning to local hot sauce manufacturer, call for recall (courant.com) — State consumer protection officials have ordered Monroe-based Phire in the Hole to stop selling its hot sauces, after finding they were made without required licensing or an approved process, and have embargoed bottles sold at Beardsley's Cider Mill & Orchard in Shelton. If you bought any of the named 5-ounce sauces there between November 2025 and August 17, 2026, you should stop using them and watch for botulism symptoms, though no illnesses have been reported.
