Per Connecticut General Statute, all accumulated snow and ice must be removed from the hood, trunk, and roof of any vehicle before operating it on a roadway.

If snow or ice becomes dislodged from a vehicle and causes property damage or personal injury, the offense escalates to a misdemeanor.

License Plate Visibility

Connecticut law also requires that license plates letters and numbers must be visible at all times. An obstructed plate is also an infraction.

"Please be courteous to fellow motorists and give extra space to plow drivers as they continue clearing roadways," police wrote on Facebook. "Drive safely and do your part to help keep Derby’s roads safe for everyone."
