Simsbury Facebook Group Inspired Actress/Writer On Her Netflix Show: Report
Simsbury High School graduate Rachel Sennott told People Magazine that the group inspired a key element in the new series 'Big Mistakes.'

SIMSBURY, CT — A prominent actress and comedienne with extremely strong Simsbury ties had a rather unique and locally pertinent inspiration regarding her latest project.
Simsbury High School graduate Rachel Sennott, 30, has co-created a new series on Netflix with well-known actor Dan Levy (son of comic legend Eugene Levy) called "Big Mistakes."
Dan Levy stars in the crime comedy that Netflix said is about siblings who are "blackmailed into working for some very dangerous people," adding the story is about how "two deeply incapable siblings become the most disorganized duo in organized crime."

Sennott, who graduated from SHS in 2014, is listed as the show's co-creator, and she was interviewed by People Magazine earlier this month at the show's red carpet premiere.
It was there that Sennott dished on the inspiration for one of "Big Mistakes'" elements, namely a prominent Simsbury Facebook group.

Sennott told People that "Simsbury Neighbors Unite" (once called "Simsbury Moms Unite") featured "so much drama going on in it."
Such town-inspired Facebook groups often are private and feature residents complaining, accusing, and offering myriad opinions on just about anything in town.
Sennott said she and her siblings became "obsessed" reading all the "drama" on Simsbury Neighbors Unite during the COVID lockdown.
That led her and Levy to incorporate a similar element to "Big Mistakes," she said.
Sennott is evolving from being a rising star in Hollywood to, simply, becoming a star, excelling in stand-up comedy, acting, directing, writing ... just about anything entertainment-related.
The 2017 graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, Sennott has starred in both movies and television.
She is best known for starring in "Shiva Baby" (2020), "Bodies Bodies Bodies" (2022), "Bottoms" (2023), and "I Used to Be Funny" (2023).
On the small screen, she has created, written, and starred in the HBO series "I Love LA," which premiered in late 2025 and was renewed for a second season.
She also starred in the ABC sitcom "Call Your Mother."
These days, Sennott calls both New York and Los Angeles home, but Simsbury — as her latest project shows — is still an inspiration.
