• Southington OKs New Contract With Police Dispatchers (patch.com) — Southington residents should know the Town Council has unanimously approved a new four-year contract for the town's 12 police dispatchers, changing their health insurance and setting wages through 2029. Dispatchers will move from the town's self-insurance pool to a Teamsters health plan, a shift officials say should save Southington several hundred thousand dollars while keeping eight-hour shifts and pension benefits intact. 
• Southington lives up to lofty preseason billing in opener, topples BC, 52-6 (newbritainherald.com) — Southington High's Blue Knights thrilled home fans by crushing Bristol Central 52-6 in their season opener, showcasing a dominant offense and stifling defense on their home field. Quarterback Jacoby Roman and backs Nick Andrews and Ben Beaulieu led a barrage of big plays as Southington built a huge early lead, with an Alliance road test at Newtown up next.
