United Way Seeks Volunteers For Southington Apple Harvest Festival Beverage Booth

SOUTHINGTON, CT — The United Way of Southington is looking for volunteers to help staff its beverage booth during the upcoming Apple Harvest Festival, including groups of coworkers interested in volunteering together.

Volunteers will provide customer service and sell bottled water and soft drinks at a booth near the entrance to the festival rides. Duties will include accepting cash and credit card payments.

Shifts range from about 2½ to four hours.

The organization is specifically encouraging local businesses to assemble teams for the volunteer effort.

Participants may wear clothing displaying their company's logo while working at the booth.

"Bring your team. Volunteer together. Give back to Southington," the United Way said in announcing the volunteer opportunity.

Volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Those younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is at least 18.

Organizers are also advising volunteers to account for parking and the walk to the booth when arriving for their shifts, recommending an additional 15 minutes.

The Apple Harvest Festival, one of Southington's largest annual community events, is scheduled for Oct. 2-4 and Oct. 9-11.
