Charles Joseph Kanel Jr., 83, of Milford, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2026, while surrounded by his loving family at his home in Milford, CT. Charles was born on May 9, 1942, in Stamford, CT, to the late Charles Joseph Kanel Sr. and Mary Gumkowski Kanel. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to the late Colleen A. Kanel.

Charles (Pop) was a man of many talents with many hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and always had a special love for the outdoors. His special way with animals was rare and intuitive. He enjoyed spending time helping his family with their many projects throughout the years. If help was ever needed, he would always be the first one there. He will be greatly missed.

Charles Jr. is survived by his daughters, Deborah Whelan (Joel), Marie Cataldi (Mike) and Jacqui Marshall and his son, Charles J. Kanel III (Darleen). He was a loving husband, father and a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
