Old Lyme Man Was Going 95 MPH In Gold Star Bridge Construction Zone, Police Say

He told police that he "had to use the restroom and was speeding home," according to an arrest report.

OLD LYME, CT — A man is facing charges after police say he was going 95 MPH in a construction zone.

Troopers spotted the man speeding in the left lane on the Gold Star Memorial Bridge in Old Lyme at 5:39 p.m. Tuesday. He was going 95 MPH in a 45-MPH zone.

Troopers stopped the vehicle. Andrew Bennett, 22, of Old Lyme, told police that he "had to use the restroom and was speeding home," according to an arrest report.

Bennett was taken into custody and charged with reckless driving in a construction or utility work zone and failure to stop on the right side of the road.

He was released on $1,000 bond.
