TOLLAND, CT — A Bridgeport teen was arrested at Bradley International Airport after attempting to board a flight to Puerto Rico with a ticket purchased using a Tolland resident's credit card, Connecticut State Police said.

Jainnier Ramos, 18, of Bridgeport, was charged with unauthorized use of a credit card and sixth-degree larceny following an investigation Oct. 26, according to state police.

State police assigned to Troop C in Tolland received a complaint at about 8:30 p.m. from a resident who discovered unauthorized credit card charges while reviewing financial records, according to an incident report. The charges included more than $700 to a national airline and more than $200 to another business, according to an incident report.

The resident also discovered an email confirmation for a flight from Hartford to San Juan, Puerto Rico, scheduled to depart at 9:37 p.m. that evening. The passenger listed on the ticket was identified as Ramos, whom the complainant said was not familiar. The resident was the only authorized user of the credit card account, according to an incident report.

Before troopers arrived at the residence, the complainant contacted Bradley International Airport and alerted state police assigned there.

Troopers at the airport coordinated with airline staff to identify the passenger and were notified when Ramos attempted to board the flight using the ticket, according to an incident report. He was escorted away from the boarding line, police said.

During questioning, Ramos initially told troopers that a family member had purchased the ticket for him, according to an incident report. When troopers said they intended to speak with the family member, Ramos said a third party had purchased the ticket at the family member’s request, according to police.

Ramos was taken into custody and transferred to Troop C in Tolland. He was released on a $25,000 cash-surety bond and is scheduled to appear Nov. 9 in Rockville Superior Court, police said.
