Tolland Sets May 5 Budget Referendum

TOLLAND, CT — Tolland's annual budget referendum will be staged on May 5 in the Tolland Library Program Room at 21 Tolland Green.

The budget proposal for the 2026-27 fiscal year totals $66,390,910. If approved, the tax rate would shift from its current level of 27.19 mills to 28.00 mills.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Only registered Tolland voters may vote in the referendum, according to the town’s notice.

The voting site for the referendum is the library program room.

The town also posted that a sample ballot is available and that absentee ballots are available in the Town Clerk’s Office. Absentee ballot applications are also available on the town website.

For residents planning to vote by absentee ballot, the town provided several deadlines and return options. If applying by mail, the town stated that applications should reach the Town Clerk's Office by Monday, April 27, to allow enough processing time for USPS turn-around.

The town notice stated that applications as well as ballots may be deposited in drop boxes. The boxes will be emptied daily beginning Thursday, April 16. The drop box locations are Parking Lot A near the Human Services entrance and Parking Lot C near the library entrance.

Absentee ballots can also be returned in person to the Town Clerk’s Office by 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 4, according to the notice. Ballots may also be returned by mail or in the drop boxes by 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 5.

Residents with questions are being directed to the town website at www.tollandct.gov. The notice also lists the Town Clerk at 860-871-3630 and the Tolland Registrars of Voters at 860-871-3634 for additional information.
