Trumbull Man Accused Of Taking $42,000 In Payments For Work Never Done In Fairfield: Police (patch.com) — Trumbull residents may be interested to know that a local contractor from town has been charged after Fairfield police said he accepted more than $42,000 for home renovations that were never started. The Trumbull man, whose company remains active in state records, is out on bond, says he is working to repay the homeowner, and faces a court date in Bridgeport later this month.

A 1940s refrigerator caused a hazmat scare in Trumbull, officials say (ctpost.com) — Trumbull firefighters and regional hazmat teams spent about three hours Monday handling a sulfur dioxide leak after a homeowner accidentally cut the refrigerant line on a 1940s refrigerator being removed from a house. Crews quickly backed out when meters showed elevated readings, then worked with state and county specialists to ventilate the home, and no injuries were reported.

3. 3 accused in Trumbull hotel standoff caused $5K in damage, police say (ctinsider.com) — A late‑August police standoff at the Marriott on Hawley Lane in Trumbull ended with three arrests and an estimated $5,000 in hotel damage, according to police. Officers, aided by U.S. Marshals, say the suspects barricaded themselves inside, threatened officers, and now face criminal mischief, resisting, and related charges with plea hearings set in Bridgeport next month.

LHS teacher named finalist for National Civics Teacher of the Year Award (valdostadailytimes.com) — A Trumbull High School teacher, Katie Boland, has been named a finalist for the Bill of Rights Institute's National Civics Teacher of the Year Award, earning a $1,000 prize. She's one of several educators nationwide recognized for helping students understand American civics, with the overall winner and a larger cash award to be announced in October.
