• Driver Charged For July State Police Chase That Began With Flock Camera Alert In Vernon (patch.com) — A state police chase that began with a Flock camera alert near Exit 66 in Vernon led to a high-speed crash at Dobson Road, injuring a passenger in another car. Troopers say 19-year-old Julian Vargas of East Hartford fled through Vernon streets in a pickup with the wrong plates before colliding with a Toyota. He now faces multiple charges and is scheduled to appear in Rockville Superior Court later this month.
   

• Hijacked Checks For Vernon Elderly Couple's Oil Bills Turn Into Felony Forgery Charges: Warrant (patch.com) — An elderly Vernon couple's mailed oil-bill checks were allegedly stolen from the Hartford Turnpike post office and rewritten to another person, leading to forgery, identity theft, and larceny charges. The suspect, identified through bank surveillance, has appeared in Rockville Superior Court and is due back in late September.
   

• Somers man accused of murder and home invasion faces judge (fox61.com) — A high-profile murder and home invasion case tied to a Somers household is now unfolding at Rockville Superior Court in Vernon, where the accused man appeared as family members of the victim looked on. The judge set a $1.5 million bond, issued protective orders, and scheduled the next court date for September 18.
