Vernon Woman Charged With DUI
South Windsor police said they found the 36-year-old driver and a child in a parked car on Chapel Road.
VERNON, CT — A 36-year-old Vernon woman faces DUI and risk of injury to a child charges after South Windsor police investigated a report of a woman stumbling while putting a child into a car Wednesday.
Cierra N. Akrasi-Danso was arrested at 3:55 p.m. Oct. 7, according to South Windsor police.
Officers were called to the CREC school at 625 Chapel Road for a report of a woman “loading a child into a car and stumbling around,” police said.

They found the vehicle parked at KinderCare, 494 Chapel Road, and spoke with Akrasi-Danso, whom they identified as the driver. A child was inside the vehicle, police said.

Police said the investigation indicated Akrasi-Danso was under the influence of alcohol. She agreed to take field sobriety tests and failed them, according to the department.
She was released on a $5,000 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Manchester Superior Court at 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23.
The charges are allegations, not findings of guilt.
