WALLINGFORD, CT — Officials are advising residents of a recent scam in Wallingford that involves the Wallingford Electric Division.
“The Wallingford Electric Division (WED) has learned that customers have received collection calls from scammers,” officials wrote in a post on the Town of Wallingford Government Facebook page. “These calls originate from an 844 number, and the person(s) demand that the account(s) be paid in full to avoid being shut off that day.”
Officials said that while the Wallingford Electric Division does reach out to customers by phone, “the Division does NOT demand payment in full by the end of the day.”
