Same-day registration, a craft fair, raffles, food trucks, and team fundraising opportunities make it a family-friendly way to help the organization reach its $50,000 goal.
   

• Stonington overwhelms Waterford in soccer opener, 5-0 (thewesterlysun.com) — Waterford High's girls soccer team opened the season with a tough 5-0 road loss to a powerful Stonington squad, highlighted by two early goals from defender Hannah Drake. Coach Chris Giglia said his young Lancers faced a major early test, but the match offered valuable experience as they work to grow into the season against strong Eastern Connecticut Conference competition.
