📰 News we're reading
1. West Hartford Homeowners Sue Town After ZBA Rejects Airbnb Plan (patch.com) — West Hartford homeowners Lisa and Alexander Khan are taking the town to Hartford Superior Court after the Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously upheld an enforcement order blocking their Airbnb-style short-term rental on Pheasant Hill Drive. The couple argues town zoning rules don't explicitly ban short-term rentals of an entire single-family home, while the town's zoning officer and several residents maintain the use violates existing regulations. The court will now decide whether West Hartford's interpretation of its own zoning code is legally sound.

She's working with Public Works and local schools, and invites residents to contact her for guidance on practical ways to improve the town's environmental health and everyday sustainability habits.

4. West Hartford Board of Education Passes Position Statement on Technology in Public Schools - We-Ha (we-ha.com) — West Hartford families should know the Board of Education has formally committed to a "balanced" approach to classroom technology, launching a yearlong plan that could shape future screen-time and cellphone rules. Parents and students weighed in with strong views, while key dates were set for homecomings, PSATs, and district events at Conard, Hall, Morley, and Town Hall later this month and in November.

5. Region bracing for traffic with running of Hartford Marathon (wtnh.com) — Expect significant traffic delays today as the Hartford Marathon's 26.2-mile route runs through Hartford, East Hartford, West Hartford, and South Windsor, with road closures starting early and lasting through the race. Organizers say detours and barricades are carefully planned, while thousands of runners and spectators are anticipated around Bushnell Park and along the course.
