Webster House To Close Saturday Due To Storm Forecast In West Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, CT — TheNoah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society will close Saturday because of the storm expected to bring strong winds and rain to the area.

The museum announced Friday that it will be closed Saturday, Sept. 26, as a precaution for visitors and employees.

"Out of an abundance of caution for our guests and staff, the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society will be closed on Saturday," the organization said.

The closure comes as Hartford County is under a Wind Advisory from noon Friday until 2 a.m. Sunday. The National Weather Service is forecasting northeast winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts between 35 and 50 mph.

Forecasters said the combination of prolonged winds, heavy rain, and trees that remain fully leafed could increase the risk of downed limbs and power outages.

The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain Saturday, with wind gusts around 45 mph possible in the Hartford area. Rain and gusty conditions are expected to continue into Sunday.

The Noah Webster House plans to resume regular public hours Monday, Sept. 28, from 1 to 4 p.m.

The closure follows a warning from the Town of West Hartford encouraging residents to secure loose outdoor items, clear leaves and debris from catch basins, and prepare for possible isolated power outages during the storm.
