• West Haven Takes Giant Step To Tackle Food Insecurity With New Policy (patch.com) — West Haven is rolling out a new ordinance that requires all city departments to donate safe surplus food to local nonprofits, food pantries, and shelters. Mayor Dorinda Borer and Councilman Ronald Quagliani say the policy aligns with federal protections while directly supporting residents facing hunger, improving coordination among agencies, and reducing food waste across city-run facilities.
   

• West Haven drug trafficking leader pleads guilty after DEA investigation (fox61.com) — A West Haven man identified as leading a fentanyl and cocaine ring across greater New Haven has pleaded guilty to federal narcotics and firearms charges. Investigators tied him to large drug seizures and an overdose death, and West Haven Police recently arrested him again on new narcotics counts. He now faces at least 10 years in federal prison, with sentencing set for November.
   

• Father of Stamford homicide victim expresses shock, disgust at news of retrial (nhregister.com) — A man from West Haven convicted in a 2019 Stamford shooting will get a new trial after Connecticut's Supreme Court ruled key gunshot residue evidence was improperly admitted. The victim's father, still convinced of the defendant's guilt, says he's shocked and disgusted by the decision. West Haven readers may see this case resurface prominently in state courts as prosecutors prepare to retry it.
