• 2 Weston, Redding Students Named National Merit Semifinalists (patch.com) — Weston residents can cheer on Weston High School senior Allen Xia, who has been named a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist alongside Joel Barlow High School's Austin Y. Bradford of Redding. The two are among an elite group of students nationwide now competing for scholarships totaling about $24 million, with finalists to be announced in February and winners beginning in April.

• Dance Studio Among 29 New Businesses Registered In Weston, Easton & Redding In August (patch.com) — Weston saw 14 new business registrations in August, part of 29 total across Weston, Easton, and Redding, according to the Connecticut Business Registry.
