Free Flood Cleanup Assistance Available For Westport Homeowners Affected By Sept. 13 Storm (patch.com) — Westport homeowners dealing with flooding from the Sept. 13 storm can now request free cleanup help, including damage assessments, debris removal, and mold mitigation, through Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. The town has posted details and contacts on its storm recovery page, and residents are urged to call and leave their information to get assistance started.
   

2. Route 57 In Westport To Be Repaved After Issue With Asphalt (patch.com) — Drivers in Westport should prepare for nighttime milling and repaving on Route 57, where a 1.34-mile stretch between Easton Road and near the Weston line will get a new asphalt surface after issues with June's paving. Lane closures, traffic control, and possible schedule changes due to weather mean motorists should slow down, follow signs, and allow extra travel time.
   

3. Pennsylvania Woman Accused Of Stealing Wallet At Westport HomeGoods Store: Police (patch.com) — Westport police have charged a 59-year-old Philadelphia woman in connection with a 2023 wallet theft at the HomeGoods on Post Road East, where a shopper's credit card was used for unauthorized purchases. After investigators identified her and obtained a warrant, she turned herself in at Westport Police Headquarters, posted $10,000 bond, and is due in Stamford Superior Court on Sept. 30.
   

4. 2 New York Men Accused Of February Vehicle Theft In Westport: Police (patch.com) — Westport residents may notice two men remain in custody after being charged in connection with a February theft of a 2022 Rivian from Volvo of Westport. Police used tracking technology and surveillance footage to recover the vehicle on Post Road East, later arresting the suspects on warrants as they were set for release from New Haven Correctional Center.
   

5. Sabit's 'Good People' wins the Westport Prize for Literature (westportjournal.com) — Westport readers can look forward to a November 12 ceremony at the Westport Library honoring Patmeena Sabit, whose debut novel "Good People" just won the 2026 Westport Prize for Literature. Local volunteers helped vet submissions, and the event will feature a conversation with editor Meghan O'Rourke plus a chance to buy and have books signed.
