The gift honors Engineer Robert "Sharkey" Sharkevich Sr., who served at Ground Zero, volunteered with the Wethersfield Fire Department, and later died battling the Hawthorne Fire, leaving behind his wife and four children.

What to know about the 2026 Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade (wtnh.com) — If you're driving between Wethersfield and Hartford on Sunday, expect heavy delays as the Greater Hartford Puerto Rican Day Parade closes key streets and restricts traffic on Wethersfield Avenue and Franklin Avenue from 7 a.m. to midnight. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. on Park Street, with a large festival in Bushnell Park and major congestion around downtown.
