Woodbury Police Save Woman Suffering Deadly Allergic Reaction

WOODBURY, CT — Police recently rescued a woman who was experiencing a life-threatening allergic reaction.

Police were dispatched on Friday, Sept. 18 at 9:33 p.m. to the parking lot of LaBonne’s Market on Main Street South on a report of a medical emergency.

Officers arrived and found the 56-year-old woman having extreme difficulty breathing, police said.

Police immediately administered an EpiPen and provided high-flow oxygen to her, and she showed “marked improvement” afterward, police said.

Woodbury Ambulance personnel then arrived on scene, continued providing care to the woman, and took her to Saint Mary’s Hospital.

“​The rapid response of the officers, along with the seamless transition of care to Woodbury Ambulance, ensured the patient received the vital care needed,” police said, in a Facebook post on the incident.

Police did not disclose what prompted the woman’s allergic reaction.

It is the second allergy-related rescue in recent weeks. In August, police also used an EpiPen to save someone. In that case, the victim was suffering a life-threatening allergic reaction to bee stings.
