📢 Community members - Help clear the shelter by adopting a pet for free* today. The adoption fees are waived* for Clear the Shelters and Maryland 3000. Adopters and fosters are needed for 8 dogs on urgent list (see below) by Tuesday, 8/4.  Please go meet and adopt them today. They are at full capacity with dogs during construction and need space for more dogs coming in.

*In PG County ASD news (above): "Throughout August, adoption fees at ASFAC will be waived for eligible animals, making it easier than ever for families to adopt a new companion. While adoption fees are waived, all standard adoption procedures, counseling, and licensing requirements will remain in place to ensure every pet is matched with the right family."

🐶 Adopters:  Please go to the shelter Saturday (10am to 4pm, arrive by 3pm.) Adopters are able to meet 2 dogs and bring dogs for meet and greets.

Note: Adopters of pit bulls: Review the requirements and complete the Pet Parenting Certification (that takes about an hourbefore going to adopt Pit Bull Terriers and specific bully-type breeds.

🐶 Prospective fosters: Fosters through the shelter and rescues are needed for these dogs. Please apply with rescue partners, or with the shelter on Thursday, to become a foster and save a life. The Friends of PG County Animal Shelter posts about dogs which need fosters through the shelter or otherwise through rescues. Fostering is usually free with a rescue.

Please review the shelter foster information, apply online and complete Pet Parenting Certification. Contact the shelter with the dog's name and ID. "Interested in Fostering: Email fosterpgcpets@co.pg.md.us " They allow pit bull-type dogs to be fostered in Maryland. Foster Information | Prince George's County
